The Canoa Ranch Book Club would like to second the Quail Creek Book Club's Jan. 23 recommendation of Evelyne Tannehill’s book, “Abandoned and Forgotten.” On Jan. 14, Canoa Ranch Book Club had a book signing and luncheon at the home of one of its members. The book was selected by our club last year after an interview with Ms. Tannehill appeared in the newspaper.

The book is the result of six years of contemplative searching both in this country and Germany and is an informative, moving story of a young girl living in Germany during World War II.

It is a story of bravery and intense resilience. The hardships endured by a family torn apart by the Hitler, Polish and Russian armies become all too real as the story unfolds. Evelynn lost both of her parents and her family was separated during this hostile time. Ms. Tannehill is a talented writer, a captivating speaker, and she lives in Green Valley! We cannot emphasize enough what an extraordinary book “Abandoned and Forgotten” is.

We encourage you to read this book and, if given the opportunity, visit with the author. Both are outstanding.
